Sector Support and Development Central Coast & Hunter is hosting an online CHSP Orientation Webinar on 27 November, 12:30pm to 3:00pm AEDT, as part of the Orientation for CHSP Collection.
This session is designed for field staff within CHSP services, particularly those from newly growth-funded providers. The workshop offers a strategic overview of the Commonwealth Home Support Program and aims to strengthen understanding of the sector during a period of significant change.
The session will support field staff to:
• Develop practical skills for effective CHSP service delivery
• Understand documentation, reporting obligations, and client care standards
• Promote adherence to the Aged Care Code of Conduct and embed culturally sensitive practices
The CHSP is vital in enabling older Australians to live independently at home. With the Support at Home Program commencing on 1 July 2025, and the CHSP scheduled to transition no earlier than 1 July 2027, the sector is preparing for major reforms. Providers are encouraged to adapt, innovate, and collaborate to meet rising demand and evolving expectations.
Key areas of focus include:
• Strategic priorities of the CHSP and its role within the broader aged care system
• An overview of the Support at Home Program and its implications for CHSP providers
• Updated CHSP service categories, including personal care, domestic assistance, nursing, social support, and respite
• Governance responsibilities, including alignment with CHSP guidelines, the Aged Care Code of Conduct, and applicable Quality Standards
• Understanding the CHSP compliance framework and the importance of continuous improvement
• Practical steps for planning and implementing effective strategic change
