Updated Schedules for residential care and Support at Home
We have published new Schedules for residential care and Support at Home, updated in line with indexation. The rates take effect from 20 March 2026.

Changes to fees and contributions
Services Australia will send letters to older people and their providers to advise of any changes with indexation to:
- means tested fees and contributions for residential aged care
- participant contribution rates for Support at Home.
Increase to deeming rates
Announced by the Minister for Social Services, deeming rates will increase from 20 March 2026. These rates are used to work out income earned from financial assets for calculating aged care fees.
This change may affect means tested fees and accommodation contributions in residential care and contributions for Support at Home.
Changes to interest rates for residential care
The maximum permissible interest rate (MPIR) will increase to 7.96% for 1 April to 30 June 2026 for calculating:
- residential care accommodation costs
- interest on refunds of accommodation lump sum balances.
The base interest rate (BIR) will increase to 3.25% from 1 April 2026 for calculating interest on refunds of accommodation lump sum balances.

Indexation of daily accommodation payments for residential care
Residential care providers can index daily accommodation payments (DAPs) for eligible residents for the first time using the DAP index number published for 20 March 2026.
